Spanish Ante Subdivision
Platted in 1959, this subdivision comprises the center of the island and is made up of private lots, county roads, and individual lots owned by the State Park. There are two houses that have been built in this subdivision on the gulf side, and two docks on the bay side. There are no utilities such as power or water available to the lots. The State Park has on occasion tried to buy up the rest of the private lots in this area to create a contiguous park. The public enjoys the county rights-of-way because the additional, unwanted State Park rules do not apply on these public access roads.
